Day 3: Shanghai (Part II)

Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall

Due to the perfectly complete public transportation available, almost everywhere was easily accessible to us.

To the City Planning Exhibition Hall, rather expensive entrance tickets - RMB30 per head. To me, it was not really worth it.

The city model. Impressive huh?

The blue building on the left was the World Financial Centre, the taller on the right was yet to be built. Once it has been completed, it shall be the tallest building in Shanghai.

The blue part was the Huangpu River.

The city at nightfall.

There was a computer game for kids to design their own city. Spent almost 30 minutes designing my own. =D

My city.

Alongside the city model there was a room theater with a 360 degree screen which gave a 3D effect to the audience. They play short videos at a certain time interval introducing the future of Shanghai city and the theme which was "better city, better life". The animation wasn't great, but I had the impression as if I were flying on top of the city, viewing important landmarks and some of the World Expo buildings.

It was conservative enough to say that it was moderately enjoyable. You could really skip this stop if you're not very interested in the urban development of a city or if you have better places to go.

Qibao (七宝) Ancient Water Town

I was seriously freezing my ass off!!! I couldn't speak, I could walk properly, I wouldn't take my hands out of my pockets even if the last emperor of China woke up from his sleep and commanded me to, I refused to stand more than one minute on the bridge to take pictures or to do anything else.

This looks like it was taken in the morning but actually it was taken at the same time as the one above it.

Dinner time was the happiest time of my life. Because this meant having shelter, away from the cold.

According to my brother, this was supposed to be like, the best tangyuan (汤圆) he had ever eaten. To me, it tasted like those that my mom bought from Jusco.

Lion's head (狮子头) - terrible food. It was basically a huge meat ball with lots and lots of fat.

Noodles served with some mysterious parts of a duck and toufu. I had never tasted anything as terrible as this.

This was the shop. Heed my advice - do not ever, ever dine here.

The street.

The interior of the Shanghai metro, leaving Qibao Ancient Town.

The Bund 上海外滩

Arriving at the Bund, we would walk all the way, past Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, and take the ferry back towards Lujiazui 陆家嘴 (which was where my brother stayed).

This was the shopping street - branded stuffs and shopping malls all over the place.

Pork mooncake 鲜肉月饼 - tasted like Seremban SiewPau.

An attempt to steal the police car.

Lujiazui from across the Huangpu River.

Ferry cost RMB2 per head. Anymore cheaper is that?

On the way back home.

P.S. Yes I know I know... My posts are getting shorter. The sad and inevitable thing is, when you have a job and you work 8 to 5, it's not like I have a choice.
