A colleague of mine is getting married soon. The other day she asked us for opinion on songs to play on her wedding. I remembered when I was young I already had a list of songs in my mind. Some of them I feel now are kind of lame, for instance I do (cherish you) by 98 degrees.
But there's one that I still think I will play on my wedding - grow old with you by Adam Sandler from the movie The Wedding Singer. This song is so romantic and perfect for weddings. The only flaw is that narration at the beginning. But thanks to the advance of technology we can always use a mp3 editor or any of that sort to get rid of that.
I couldn't help compiling a list of songs ideal - in my opinion - to play on a wedding (not that I'm getting married anytime soon). But I think I'm going to play all the songs that I love. Definitely popular songs like marry you by Bruno Mars or I do by Colbie Caillat will not be in the list. It's not that I don't like them, it's just too predictable.
I'm thinking you and me by Olivia Ong...
Everything by Michael Buble..
Nothing's gonna change my love for you by Khalil Fong. One of the classic love songs that I like. Moving on...
L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole...
Last but not least, from the animated motion pictures Quest for Camelot, looking through your eyes by LeAnn Rimes...
What about you? What songs did / will you play in your wedding?

And I'll love you, always.
Distinctly remember during my childhood, my brother who is 10 years older, would sing shout this song to me all the time and forced me to listen. He was seriously obsessed with Bon Jovi. I hated this song then. But as I grew older I began to be able to appreciate this song - its powerful vocal, its meaningful lyrics. My favourite would be,
when he holds you close
when he pulls you near
when he says the words
you've been needing to hear
I wish I was him and those words were mine
to say to you till the end of time
when he holds you close
when he pulls you near
when he says the words
you've been needing to hear
I wish I was him and those words were mine
to say to you till the end of time

superman can't fly
Introducing Jay Chou's latest album The Era 跨时代.
I haven't really listen to the whole album yet but the main theme song Superman Can't Fly 超人不会飞 totally caught my attention.
Like his usual style, this song is full with his arrogant attitude. But if you look closer, you can tell - from both the melody and the lyrics - that he's tired. Being in the entertainment industry for nearly ten years, he's tired in some ways, but still stand his ground.
My favourite part of the lyrics:
不要问我哭过了没,因为超人不能流眼泪。
Don't ask me if I've cried, because superman is not allowed to.

Way Back Into Love

This is a song from the movie "Music and Lyrics" starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Never really had the chance to properly sit down and watch the movie and I don't think the story is anything special anyway. But I like the soundtrack. The melody is just okay but I love the lyrics, especially the part:
I've been hiding all my hopes and dreams awayIt just sounds so... Deep.
Just in case I ever need them again someday
Anyway watch the video and sing with the lyrics. I'm sure you'll feel what I feel. Enjoy...
p.s. I didn't know Hugh Grant can sing. Not bad...

coincidence
It's amazing how coincidences can happen sometimes. I just discovered that all the Chinese singers that I like have a lot in common.
Jay Chou
Justin
Gary Chaw
Khalil Fong
Jay Chou
Justin
Gary Chaw
Khalil Fong
- They're very talented and are song composers. (Of course, I wouldn't like them if they aren't.)
- They can sing live almost flawlessly. (Do not doubt Jay's ability in this. He's proven it in his latest world tour.)
- They are shy and do not know how to connect with people. (At least that's what I think they are.)
- They are known to everyone else as ugly and not physically attractive except to me. (ShinYin despises them for being ugly.)
- Three of them like Michael Jackson. (Do a lot of people their age like Michael?)
- Three of them like Jet Li. (Now that's coincidence.)
- Three of them can speak excellent English.
I discovered these weird coincidences these two days when I had nothing better to do than to watch YouTube videos on Khalil Fong and downloading his songs from sogou. Many nice songs he wrote. I especially like spring breeze, shu li zhen, can we or can we not, love song... Can give him a try if you like R&B.
