Introducing Jay Chou's latest album The Era 跨时代.

I haven't really listen to the whole album yet but the main theme song Superman Can't Fly 超人不会飞 totally caught my attention.



Like his usual style, this song is full with his arrogant attitude. But if you look closer, you can tell - from both the melody and the lyrics - that he's tired. Being in the entertainment industry for nearly ten years, he's tired in some ways, but still stand his ground.

My favourite part of the lyrics:
不要问我哭过了没，因为超人不能流眼泪。
Don't ask me if I've cried, because superman is not allowed to.

Downfall

I tripped and fell on my own
There was no one to be blamed but myself
I reminisced and traced my steps
And realized
I could've done something to prevent it

My Reading List

I just received my book ordered from the BookDepository.com last Thursday - Addicted to Unhappiness by Martha and William Pieper. Actually I was supposed to receive it by the end of February. But I think the book got lost somewhere along the airmail so I emailed the helpdesk of BookDepository and they offered me two options - either to send a replacement to me or I can have my refund. I asked them to send a replacement, so there it was, wrapped in good condition. And I got a really good deal. Because the same book costs about RM70 in Kinokuniya and they still want to charge me RM8 for postage. In BookDepository they don't charge postage fees and the book itself only costs about 14 USD (equivalent to RM50++). Good deal, right?

Anyway, now that I got the book, I realized I have like so many to-read-books in my list

First there is The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. I bought this book from Kinokuniya like, two years ago. I only read halfway though. It's not that the book is boring, no in fact it's totally interesting and intriguing. It just didn't come to me at the right time. Although I can't recall much of the story, I'm sure it will be a pleasant read if I had continued.

Then there is 鬼吹灯 (Ghost Blow Light) by 天下霸唱 (Tian Xia Ba Chang) introduced by Mr. Chin. It was written by an Internet writer and now it has got so famous that it was published into hard copy books (in four thick volumes) sold in bookshops and I heard there's a online game made based on the novel. The first two volumes were really good. It was scary, adventurous, funny, and most importantly, weird. I can only tell you about the first two volumes because I only managed to read until there. And again, it's not that the book is boring, not at all. It just didn't come to me at the right time.

Both of the above-mentioned books had been sitting on the top bunk of my bed (I sleep on the lower bunk of the double-decked bed) for God-knows-how-long. Then along came Lao Ann, who half-forcefully lend me The Five Love Languages (爱的五种语言) by Gary Chapman. It's a Chinese version, hence the translation. He said that every couple should read it, and he asked me to force Mr. Chin to read it too. I'm not very into self-help books so I laid it on top of The White Tiger.

A few weeks ago, I got hold of Lonely Planet travel books as to prepare my journey to Hangzhou, Shanghai, Tongli, and possibly Suzhou or Nanjing (it hasn't been planned in detail). I'll be going at the end of October as I've got cheap air tickets from AirAsia! Yes! RM420 nett two way! And I'll be able to go to World Expo 2010 (if we manage to get the tickets)! Yeay! Ok where was I? Right, the Lonely Planet travel books, burden-fully added to my reading list.

Around the same time my birthday was approaching. So naturally I demanded presents from my friends. And Audrey, she sent me an email attaching my birthday present from her. It was two ebooks - The Pilgrimage and Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho. Fortunately I had already read the latter a few years back. So she has only added one to the list. Though few days after that she sent another four - The Devil And Miss Prym, The Valkyries, The Manual Of The Warrior Of Light and The Witch Of Portobello, all by Paulo Coelho. I shall be thankful these won't be lying on the top bunk of my bed, but in my Yahoo inbox.

And around the same time I received Addicted to Unhappiness. And it just made me realize how long my reading list is, and made me feel that it's about time that I shorten it. Which is why I've been away from my blog for so long. Yes, I've been reading. ;)

The Colors Magazine

I've been following The Colors Magazine for almost a month now and it never ceased to impress me. It is updated very frequently (almost everyday, in fact) with categories ranging from fiction to traveling tips, from lifestyle to food, and sometimes they have this Fun Weekend that features 1 quote, 1 joke and 1 picture every weekend to help you fight away your Monday blues.

I especially enjoy the articles under Love Ramblings and Fiction & Poetry sections. Especially the latter, I've finished reading ALL of the short stories in about just one week. The author writes beautiful stories and poems. There are some posts that I felt the author could truly understand me, because what she wrote was totally what I think most of the time. And she could so easily describe some feelings that I couldn't put in words. Here are some articles / stories that I've selected, if you're interested.

After reading all these I'm inspired to write some short fiction in my blog. I haven't any ideas yet but I will. And coincidentally there's a Blog Contest: Show Your Best coming up. Every month the best blog post will be selected to be the winner. Will start to look for inspiration next month to work on my short fiction (hopefully).

Paranormal Activity

I just watched Paranormal Activity and for the first time in years, I was totally freaked out from watching a horror movie. It's filmed in a "Blair Witch Project" kind of approach where the audience get to have the first person (unlike the usual third person) point of view watching this movie.

Synopsis:
Micah and Katie are a couple newly moved into a house and they started to notice unusual noises - in the middle of the night they hear footsteps, knocking on doors and all kinds of sounds. Thus Micah got hold of a camera hoping to record the paranormal activities happening around the house.

Review:
There's no hideous-looking ghosts or demons that jumps out suddenly into the screen to scare you, there's no blood, no scary music to build up the tension only to hear a sudden loud noise that makes you jump out of your skin. Nothing of that sort. What really makes this movie scary is the silence. Sometimes when it's totally quiet and the camera is static, you'd just hold your breath and anticipate for something to happen. And that few seconds feels like years. And because of the lack of hideous ghosts and demons and exaggerated scary sound effects, the film was so real you'd forget that you're actually watching a movie instead of a documentary.

*Spoilers Alert*

And the climax (i.e. ending) really did freak me out, especially the part where Katie just stood beside the bed looking at Micah sleeping. The ending was neither predictable nor surprising, and the weird things that happened were never explained. But then again this is what makes it looks so real - some things can't be explained.

Conclusion:
Highly recommended. Although at the beginning it was a little boring.
Rating 7.5 out of 10.

why i like it longer

I love long stuffs. Because longer stuffs are better. And I didn't say that just because Nuffnang is having this "Win an LG Chocolate Phone Just Because You Like It Longer" contest. Nope! Definitely not. Read on and you'll feel my sincerity.

Long Finger Nails

Long finger nails are more attractive and you can do so many things to them. It's easier if you go for manicure with long nails and it's more price-worthy because there are more space to paint. Some even provide extension service. =)

Long Pencils

Of course pencils are the longer the better (especially colour pencils). Short pencils allow you to sharpen them a few times and they'll be too short for your hands to hold. Very inconvenient. =.=|||

Long Life

I want to have a long life because I'm not done yet here on Earth. There are so many things I haven't try and so many place I haven't been to. Without a long life, how am I going to have time to juggle between my job, blogging, hobbies, travelling and so many things I have yet to do?

Long Holidays

Need I explain more? Doesn't everybody love long holidays?

I like taking pictures of the sky on the airplane.

Long Body (i.e. tall people)

People with longer bodies (i.e. taller) are stronger species. Doubtful? Those of you who wached Avatar know what I'm talking about. Check out the Na'vis, their height is almost double of humans'. When they fight against the humans, although without advanced weapon technology they could triumph over them.

Long Handphones

LG's new Chocolate phone (BL40) is a good example. It is longer thus has larger surface area which makes the touch screen function easier to operate. Its amazing 4-inch widescreen allows better web-browsing, video-watching and email-checking experiences. In addition, the new LG Chocolate phones come embedded with special content from Avatar. Isn't it exciting? You get to watch long body people on a long handphone!!! And with its widescreen, it can take bigger pictures with the 5.0 Mega Pixel camera. And most importantly, it looks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. =)
